"The Intrigue" - summer corn julep

This cocktail is inspired by the song “The Intrigue" from L.A. band Bliss Bomb. To give some intrigue to the recipe, I wanted to create a creamy texture without using dairy. This is done by muddling fresh summer corn. The result is a slightly sweet flavor and sultry feel, characteristics that mimic the cocktail's namesake tune. This is in the Julep family

4 teaspoons superfine sugar
24 mint leaves
2/3 cup fresh yellow corn kernels
1/2 cup Bourbon
1/4 cup Vanilla Rum
two pinches chile powder

Add 20 mint leaves and sugar to cocktail shaker. Muddle briefly. Add corn to same shaker. Muddle to thoroughly process corn. Stir in Bourbon and Vanilla Rum. Strain through fine mesh sieve, pressing on solids to extract maximum liquid. Fill 2 10-ounce glasses with shaved ice. Divide liquid among glasses. Dust surface of cocktail with chile powder. Float 2 reserved mint leaves on each cocktail.

*Alternate presentation is to return the strained juice to a clean shaker. Fill with ice. Shake 15 seconds. Strain into martini glasses. Dust surface of cocktail with chile powder. Float 2 reserved mint leaves on each cocktail.
